Here & Now Sessions

In this chaotic world, is it possible to be free of stress and worry, becoming calm and happy? Is it possible to quell the anger, confusion, sadness and anxiety that so often plague us? And to connect with ourselves? To be sure about who we are and the path we are on? Yes it is!

At school they teach you how to play the recorder and memorise information that can be easily googled, the curriculum of today’s society is geared towards the acquisition of power and wealth. We have such an emphasis on the mind and thinking and doing in our culture, constantly on the go.

This can be exhausting if we never give ourselves a break. And collectively results in  the stressed out, diseased and disconnected world we have. I’m sure you can all relate to mental noise and exhaustion after a long day in an office and/or staring at screens. As a society we are realising that few things can be more debilitating than the damaging effects that long term stress has for our health, it is devastating. Medicine however, is unfortunately often treating the symptoms and not the stress itself. Stress blurs our outlook and can cause us to make poor decisions, potentially compounding the anxiety we already have in our lives. So what can we do about this dire situation? We can connect to archaic human practices, we can empower ourselves, add tools to our box and learn as adults to take a break.

In our society taking a break is getting drunk, overeating, shopping, social media, promiscuous sex, smoking weed, or a mix of all of these. I would call these distractions rather than a true break, and therefore not really achieving much, in fact potentially leading to disease. We have forgotten how to have a real break and connect and relax ourselves. The emphasis in our society is doing, what do you do? what you doing today? Multitasking! How many things are you doing at once!?! Doing nothing is frowned upon. The skill of doing nothing, or doing just one thing, concentrating on one point and emptying the mind has been forgotten.

This is where Everest Here and Now sessions come in. Come and learn how to have a true break and reset. Come learn about how to destress properly, connect with yourself, your spirit, and add some ancient science methodology into your toolbox.

Ancient science methodology I hear you ask?

Sound, Asanas (stretching), Pranayama (breathing), Meditation and Shamanic practices are the tools here to guide you to a deep state of meditation and relaxation, a moment beyond the senses and ego and in turn an actual experience, not one written in a book. Although knowledge can cultivate a strong belief in one thing or another it is only through experience that we arrive to wisdom.  Once we become wise we then live in a way which we know to be right and true for us.

Just like brushing our teeth or having a daily shower, having a break by becoming still and quiet enough to feel what is going on inside ourselves is something we should never not do. Sharon Salzberg calls it getting real. You could potentially stink really bad if you keep ignoring the emotions and feelings which we are  inside ourselves. In the same you way don’t want to stink for your friends, family and workmates by skipping your routines of hygiene, you don’t want to become stinky by getting out of touch with yourself and your emotions. When you get out of touch with yourself, you may become angry, tired, sad, anxious, a myriad of negative emotion depending on our past and other factors. Stop distracting yourself and start listening to yourself and your heart. Concentrate and breathe through your heart centre. At the beginning it may be hard to feel anything, maybe you feel a lot of anxiety and negative emotion straight away, or maybe so many voices in the head, splitting you apart. We must be brave and keep our single pointed doing of concentration or meditation upon those feelings, however unpleasant they may be. We are now brushing or showering our soul and will benefit from a more spacious and less reactive way of being, meditation has transformed millions of people throughout time, we believe it can do the same for you.

The purpose of every session is to guide you towards a moment of pure Consciousness, your mind will become so quiet that the voice of the inner guru which we all have within may be heard. In this still state you will find a clearer intellect and be able to explore your subconscious and recognize what is limiting you from experiencing your full potential. Surrendering to the moment and remaining quietly observant you will have the opportunity to transform your mind and begin to shift the way you experience life.
